A trademark ensures consistency of quality among same or similar goods or services. It also reflects one source of origin of goods or services compared to those of for which it is applied. The sign or wordings are used in open market for your goods or services compared to those of others is engrossed in the goods or services it identifies. The trademark develops a communication and recognition with prospective buyers for the goods or services they are used for. A trademark helps a prospective buyer to identity to a product or services in a market place.
A sign used as trademark is known as a ‘logo’. The wording used as trademark is known as a ‘word mark’. A trademark used for services is known as ‘Services Mark’. The registration of trademark is for the period of ten years, thereafter it can be renewed from time to time. The registered Trademark indicates with a symbol “R” inserted in a circle ®. The common law Trademark indicates with symbol “TM” and Service mark indicates with symbol “SM” in a superscript.
